What a beautiful wedding day for Lauren and Jacob at Malachi Meadows venue in Currie, North Carolina! The sun was shining and the weather was lovely. Even though this celebration was on a smaller scale, the love was abounding!
This wedding venue all started with a dream from the owner Emily’s parents. They purchased a small farm because of their love for horses. When her parents started this project, the farm quickly became a place for their family and friends to join together and create memories. Emily married her best friend Todd, and over the years they were blessed with two daughters and now two grandchildren. The owners prayed for guidance on the future of the farm and Malachi Meadows wedding venue was born. Emily and Todd’s goal is for each wedding couple who comes there, to feel the same closeness, love, and support that they felt over the years on the property with their own friends and family.
Lauren and Jacob are just the sweetest couple! As with any wedding day, the first thing I start with are the details. I was obsessed with her elegant wedding dress! It was a classic satin, off the shoulder look with a side slit on the leg and a detachable train. Later on, before Lauren and Jacob walked into the reception, Lauren had removed the train which made it easier for her to dance. In addition to the typical wedding details, they included a customized Lamarca prosecco bottle. It was painted and covered in a pretty pearl design made by one of Lauren’s friends. It added a nice touch to the rings and invitation suite.
All of Lauren’s bridesmaids wore matching pink pajamas while Lauren had on a white robe and pajamas with feather decorated sleeves. She and her girls popped the special bottle of prosecco out on the balcony to get the day started. Lauren drank out of a champagne glass etched with her and Jacob’s name along with the wedding date. Once Lauren was fully dressed, she had a first look with her dad on the balcony with her mom looking on. There were so many happy tears and you could tell how proud they were of their daughter.
Then came the first look between Jacon and Lauren. He already had tears in his eyes before he even turned around!! That definitely made me tear up too! First looks are one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. It’s that one nice and quiet moment between a bride and groom before the ceremony when they can get out all of the jitters.
We took the opportunity for a first round of bride and groom portraits while we waited for the bridal party. We got really lucky with this gorgeous weather all day! This wedding party was so fun to work with! They recently had all gotten married, so they knew exactly what to do for pictures. We rolled right through them! The groomsmen all wore black suits, but Jacob switched it up a little bit by wearing a crushed velvet blazer and bowtie. The girls wore dark sage green dresses, which has become a recent trend with weddings.
Jacob and Lauren’s ceremony took place in front of a pretty white brick fireplace covered with white roses on the mantle and candles inside. Even after doing a first look, Jacob still had tears in his eyes as his beautiful bride walked down the aisle. First looks don’t always ruin this moment in the ceremony! We completed family portraits right after they were married. Afterwards, we shot more portraits of the bride and groom while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour.
Much like the wedding details, Lauren and Jacob opted for classic and elegant decorations for their reception. Lauren’s dad had by far the best father of the bride speech/welcome speech I have ever heard! It even included some fun visual aids! Everyone in the room was crying from laughing so hard! They showed photos from her childhood and even had a photo of all her best girlfriends who were in the wedding party. It was a sweet full circle moment!
Lauren wasn’t done with outfit changes yet! Lauren changed into a party dress along with a heart-shaped pair of sunglasses and was ready to dance the night away! Their dance floor was packed all night! There was even a large floating head of Jacob that made it’s way to the dance floor.
I was so honored that Lauren and Jacob chose me to document their wedding day at Malachi Meadows venue! They have so many people who love them – you could feel it in the reception room all night. I’m excited to shoot more weddings here in the future, so if you have booked this venue, message me soon so we can plan a date!
