Gosh, I just have to say how amazing Lauren and Jacob were at their summer engagement session at Fort Fisher! This couple was so much fun to be around, and we had the best weather for their engagement photos! It can be tricky when shooting in full sun, but the light was amazing and it wasn’t super windy, which is always a win when you shoot at the beach. Everything from their outfits, the colors, and the location made this one of my all-time favorite engagement sessions!

Lauren and Jacob have been together for four years. They met in elementary school and have always been in the same friend group in Fayetteville, NC. Jacob proposed on New Year’s Eve in the mountains while they were there on a trip with all their friends. When I posted their engagement session on my Instagram stories, I had two people tell me how amazing Lauren is! She works for a non-profit called A Safe Place here in Wilmington. This local business makes a big impact on the local community, focusing on prevention, advocacy, and restoration to assist female victims of exploitation and trafficking. Jacob works as a realtor here in Wilmington.

I loved Jacob and Lauren’s first outfit because of the neutral shades of white, but especially because they were both barefoot. We started their session among the branched-out trees and then walked towards the beach. While they changed into their second outfit, I found a lone red flower on the beach to hang Lauren’s engagement ring for a close-up detail shot. Lauren’s next outfit was even more beautiful! She chose a light blue off-shoulder tiered dress with Jacob coordinating in navy blue pants and a white shirt.

I learned that Jacob actually likes having his picture taken so that was exciting! It’s not every day I get to work with grooms who like photos! After we finished at the big rocks on the beach, we walked up the path away from the water towards the end of the island. The light coming in at the end of their session was absolutely magical! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next year!
