Winter Wedding in Downtown Wilmington

filed in

Morgan and Stephen

Stephen and Morgan planned a beautiful winter wedding in downtown Wilmington at Station No. 2! Morgan even provided fur coats for the bridal party. However, the day ended up being 70 degrees! Even though it was an unseasonably warm for their wedding day, they had a gorgeous ceremony inside at the Station No. 2 wedding venue. They spent lots of time partying with their guests at the reception and even included their sweet dog in all of the wedding festivities!

Downtown Wilmington’s Old World Charm

The wedding ceremony and reception were both held at the Station No. 2 in downtown Wilmington. This is such a cool wedding venue! It used to be an old firehouse that was built in 1915. It’s been restored complete with the original flooring, exposed brick walls, and tin ceilings. It has a space on the second floor called the Firehouse Suite that’s used as a bridal space. An AirBnB next door is set up next door where the guys can get ready. Frankie is their dog and he spent the entire day with them! He even was a helping hand when I was shooting bridal details. Frankie wore his own floral collar too!

Before the ceremony, Morgan had both a first look with her dad and Stephen. Stephen was so excited to see her and they both cried some happy tears. For couples portraits, we stayed at the front of the firehouse and used their iconic red door as the background. We also took more photos close to the outdoor event space at the venue. They of course included Frankie in a lot of photos! It may have been too warm for the fur shawls, but the groomsmen had fun wearing them on during bridal party portraits.

One really fun addition to the beginning of the ceremony was including a “beer guy”. He walked down the aisle first before the bridal party, and passed out beers from his beer belt to the wedding guests! Stephen and Morgan’s wedding ceremony was short and sweet so they could have more fun partying at the reception. We also took photos of everything beforehand so the bride and groom could join with guests at cocktail hour. I absolutely loved their wedding flowers! They included flower stands and an arch at the front door for the ceremony and later for the reception.

Stephen and Morgan made their entrance into the reception complete with the beer guy starting it off! Morgan opted for an A-line sparkly strapless dress and headband just for the reception. Morgan and Stephen’s crew at the reception really knew how to party! All of the wedding guests enjoyed dancing the rest of the night with Morgan, Stephen, and Frankie! While everyone got set up outside for the sparkler exit, Stephen and Morgan spent one more dance inside alone. Frankie sat at the back door watching them dance together – it was so sweet!!

Congratulations Stephen and Morgan! Your winter wedding in downtown Wilmington was so much fun to photograph! If you’re looking to get married in Wilmington, contact me to see if your date is available!
