Amy and Michael’s Rainy Wedding at The Meadows Raleigh

Tropical storm Ophelia had nothing on this beautiful wedding day for this precious couple! Amy and Michael’s rainy wedding at The Meadows Raleigh venue was still a gorgeous celebration! It was such an honor to be able to photograph my brother and now sister in law’s wedding.

Bracing For Stormy Weather

Carly Hinson (https://carlyhinsonphotography.com/) was a huge help for this wedding day! I could not have done it without her! In addition to being the main photographer, I was also a bridesmaid. For all of the moments that I was in photos, she would take over and I got to enjoy the reception. I will say that it was very weird editing photos with me in it! I got to photograph getting ready, first looks, some of the bridal party, while Carly covered ceremony, family formals, and reception! The storm brought sideways rain for literal hours! However, Amy and Michael didn’t let it stress them out, and they just enjoyed getting married.

The house the girls got ready in was stunning! It had a beautiful location for Amy to put on her wedding dress. Wedding photographers dream about such charming venue locations for getting ready photos! We went down to the venue for a first look with Michael. It was so cute and special! They read a prayer together and then we started capturing bridal party photos. Thankfully this Raleigh wedding venue has a covered awning, and we were able to get bridal party outside during the tropical storm.

After the ceremony, the rain stopped for a bit and we were able to grab BEAUTIFUL couples portraits! I was so excited that we had a beak in the weather! After photos with just Amy and Michael, I put my camera away for the night and just enjoyed the reception while Carly shot the remainder of the wedding. I absolutely loved their table decorations! Michael and Amy used photos of all their adventures together as the centerpieces and also included fun facts on the tables!

When Amy and Michael met, they connected over Kasey Musgraves, so naturally their first dance was Golden Hour (also the name of her perfume) by Kasey Musgraves. (If you didn’t get a chance to read their engagement session, click here!) The end of the dance was so sweet, with Michael lifting Amy and twirling her around. They ended their special day with a fun sparkler exit. Amy wore a cute lace knee-length dress to suit the occasion. It was originally her mom’s full-length wedding gown, but Amy had it altered to fit her!

It’s such a honor to be asked as a bridesmaid for a wedding, but even more special to photograph that wedding for your brother and sister in law. Congratulations Amy and Michael! If you’re getting married next year and want a photographer who will be there for you, even in a tropical storm, I am your girl! Send me a message to book your date!
