A Fall Wedding at The Barn at Mattaponi Springs | Richmond, Virginia

I recently traded my usual beach weddings for a rural barn wedding in Richmond, Virginia! What a beautiful day Carrie and Bradley had for their fall ceremony at The Barn at Mattaponi Springs venue! Carrie was such a well-organized bride and their wedding day went so smoothly.

The bridal details were so beautiful! Carrie opted for a simple blue and ivory invitation suite and included some small details such as a monogrammed ring box. She spoiled her bridesmaids and bedazzled their dress hangers! I loved how classic but unique Carrie’s wedding dress was. She paired a gorgeous long veil to go with the design. Her niece was the flower girl. I captured some sweet moments of the two of them sitting together and looking at Carrie’s dress. The bride had a first look with her dad and brother before she had a first look with Bradley. They were so cute together, all sweet laughs and smiles!

Carrie and Bradley had a lovely ceremony outdoors! They had a gorgeous view overlooking a pond with the mountains in the background. There were so many happy tears as Carrie walked down the aisle. Even after doing a first look, you still have tears when you are walking down the aisle in front of all your friends and family. There is nothing else like that special moment – not even doing a first look! Carrie and Bradley opted for a petal toss as they were walking back down the aisle. This is becoming one of my favorite wedding trends and it makes for great photos!!

This wedding couple had such a fun bridal party! They all had a good time laughing and celebrating the happy couple. At one point, we were all getting attacked by a bee! The groomsmen were hilarious when they all picked up Bradley and made him laugh. This wedding venue provided some gorgeous spots for Carrie and Bradley’s portraits. Carrie’s long veil created some beautiful images while they were posing around the outside of the house. I love shooting in open fields, especially when you have the opportunity to be a wedding photographer for a couple like Carrie and Bradley.

Their reception was held in a big barn with long rustic wood tables and a special place for the couple and their wedding party. The table decor incorporated their wedding colors of blue and ivory with hints of gold and green garlands in the middle. Carrie and Bradley also sprinkled some framed photos from their engagement session around the inside of the barn. I love when my couples do this for the reception! It’s so special to see my work again when they get married. In addition to having a small cake, Bradley and Carrie had a large cookie table. This apparently is a Pittsburgh tradition!

The bride and groom danced all night long with their family and friends and went out in style with a fun sparkler exit! Congratulations to Carrie and Bradley on your fall wedding at The Barn at Mattaponi Springs! Thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer! My dates for 2024 are quickly getting booked! Message me so we can start planning your wedding!
