Celebrating a gorgeous day with Taylor and Dom was so much fun! Their fall wedding at The Carolina Barn was filled with happy tears, special family and friends, and an abundance of love. There were smiles and laughter all through the ceremony, with some more tears while they both read personal vows to each other. Taylor and Dom were so excited to share their wedding day with everyone!
The Carolina Barn in Spring Lake, North Carolina is one of the prettiest wedding venues! It has a rich history that dates back over two-hundred years. John McCormick immigrated to America from Scotland in 1791. He and his wife Mary purchased land along with a home and grist mill. After their first home burned down in the 1820’s, they built another onto the original chimney and named it “Sand Hills”. Their legacy and namesake continues with nine generations, and the farm is still owned by the McCormick family. In addition to The Carolina Barn, the family also offers The Grove at McCormick Farms which is ideal for outdoor weddings and events. With a gorgeous lit space for the bridal party to get ready, a fun area just for the guys, and an outdoor veranda for dancing the night away, this venue is the ultimate place to get married!
Dom and Taylor and their crew all got ready on site for the big day! The light in each area of the venue was just amazing! I love when I can work with such pretty window light when photographing the bride and groom getting ready. It makes such a huge difference and my couples love their photos when they turn out like this! Taylor made sure to include her “something blue” with her adorable block heels and ring box for her bridal details.
Their first look took place on the back porch of the venue. It was such a cute moment between the two of them. Dom kept repeating over and over, “Wow, look at you!” He was just absolutely stunned at how beautiful Taylor looked! Right after, Taylor had a quick first look with her dad. We were also able to shoot all of the full bridal party photos before the ceremony. There were so many happy tears when Taylor walked down the aisle with her dad. Even the groomsmen got teary-eyed!
After family formals, we started couples portraits in front of the house and then ventured off to a pond on the property. During their portrait session, a ladybug landed on Taylor’s dress! I actually snapped a photo of it before it flew away. If that isn’t good luck for your wedding day, I don’t know what is! Dom and Taylor made their grand entrance into the reception space and immediately started the first dances. Taylor had a dance with both her mom and dad. It was so sweet! After Dom and Taylor cut the cake, they had family and members of the bridal party give the toasts. The fun continued after dinner with lots of dancing and a sparkler exit to end their big celebration!
Dom and Taylor, your wedding day was so special! Congratulations to you both on a happy life together! If you are planning on getting married next year, be sure to visit my contact page and inquire about a date!
