A Rainy Fall Wedding at the Club City Raleigh

Even though it was a wet and rainy day, Rett & Christy had a beautiful fall wedding downtown at City Club Raleigh. This particular wedding venue is atop a tall skyscraper building full of windows overlooking downtown Raleigh. Rett and Christy’s day started out pretty foggy and rainy, so much so that you couldn’t see out the windows at all! However, that didn’t damper anyone’s spirits and Christy and Rett were able to pose for some photos outside later in the day!

I absolutely loved capturing Rett and Christy’s wedding details. Their invitation suite was AMAZING!! I loved the emerald green that was included with the velvet ring box and the tie for the invitation. Christy’s gift to Rett was a set of cuff links with the country of Croatia on them. This is where he officially popped the question!

They had a sweet first look inside the club. Since the weather was still abysmal, we staged family photos, bridal party photos and a few portraits under the covered awning on the ground floor of the skyscraper. Rett and Christy made their bridal party a “family affair” with just their siblings and Christy’s niece. Christy and Rett’s wedding ceremony took place in a big ball room with a beautiful view of downtown Raleigh. It was a lovely ceremony with all of their special family and friends. The family took part in the “warming of the rings”. Each family member held the wedding rings and said a little prayer for them.

After the ceremony, the rain finally stopped and I captured some epic portraits of this sweet couple in the streets of downtown Raleigh. One of the best shots of the day had Rett and Christy posing in the crosswalk with the capital building in the back. This is one of the most iconic photos that you can get in downtown Raleigh! We were also able to walk along the sidewalk and the perimeter of the club for more couples portraits.

Everyone had so much fun at their reception! Christy and Rett had an amazing band for their entertainment. This group really kept the energy alive with their music and the lead singer joining the guests on the dance floor! Rett and Christy officially won the best first dance of this entire year from all of my weddings! It was absolutely amazing! Christy was a ballerina growing up and you could definitely tell as they both showed off their dancing skills! Rett and Christy had their parent dances together, which was very sweet!

Christy opted for a shorter dress for the remainder of the reception. This has been a popular wedding trend this year with a lot of my couples and I’m all here for it! Speaking of couples, SEVEN of my past wedding couples were at this celebration! It was amazing seeing them all together and their continued support for my business. The wedding couple and their wedding guests danced the night away with this incredible band!

Rett and Christ decided on a “bell exit” with guests swinging ribbons and bells as the they walked in between them outside the building. I had to walk down the steps backwards, which was a new skill that I have now acquired for future weddings. Rett and Christy then got into a rickshaw to end the night and shared a kiss to “seal the deal” that they were officially husband and wife!

Thank you Christy and Rett for letting me capture your fall wedding downtown at City Club Raleigh!! I’m so glad the weather cleared for all of the epic portrait shot downtown! This is your sign to not leave your special day to chance. Message me to grab your preferred wedding date on the books! 2024 is filling up faster than a 5-tier cake!
